Ingredients

  • 1 bag Newman’s Own Flavor Microwave Popcorn of your choice
  • 1 cup dried tart cherries
  • 1 cup toasted hazelnuts, chopped
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup dark corn syrup
  • 10 Tbsp margarine or butter (1 1/4 sticks)
  • 1 tsp Newman’s Own Organic Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp instant espresso coffee powder

Directions

1

Pop the popcorn according to package directions. Pour the popcorn into a large greased roasting pan and stir in dried cherries and chopped hazelnuts.

2

In a 2-quart saucepan, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, corn syrup, and margarine or butter and heat on medium, stirring constantly. Heat until temperature reaches 290°F on a candy thermometer, about 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in cinnamon and espresso powder. Pour over the popcorn mixture and stir well to coat evenly.

3

Let mixture cool slightly. While still warm, form into balls. After cooling, store in airtight container.
