2-3 Tbsp vegetable oil
½ cup chopped onion
4 large garlic cloves, minced
1 Tbsp minced fresh ginger
½ jar Newman's Own® Hot Salsa
1/8 tsp Garam Masala (available at Indian grocery stores) or curry powder
2 cans chick peas, rinsed and drained
1 ½ water
½ tsp salt
2 Tbsp chopped cilantro
4 cups cooked rice
Heat oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion, garlic and ginger and cook until brown, approximately 1 minute. Reduce heat to low.
Add salsa and Garam Masala (or curry powder). Stir for 1 minute. Add chick peas, water and salt and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer gently for 5 minutes.
Remove from heat. Sprinkle with chopped cilantro and serve with rice.
