8 ounces hot Italian sausage
4 large garlic cloves, smashed and chopped
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper
4 ounces yellow onion, diced
1 carrot, diced
1 celery stalk, diced
4 ounces fresh button or crimini mushrooms, chopped fine
1 cup dry red wine
1 cup Newman’s Own® Sockarooni Sauce
¼ cup Newman’s Own® Alfredo Pasta Sauce
Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
1 pound packaged gnocchi, boiled and drained
freshly grated hard cheese, such as parmesan
Crumble and cook the sausage in a large sauté pan over medium high heat. Add the garlic, crushed red pepper, onions, carrot and celery and sauté for about 5 minutes until the veggies soften.
Add in the mushrooms and continue cooking the sauce until mushrooms reduce down. Add red wine and Newman’s Own® Sockarooni Sauce and reduce until thickened. Gently stir in the Newman’s Own® Alfredo Pasta Sauce. Serve over the gnocchi with freshly grated cheese.
