Ingredients

  • 1 15-ounce can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • ¼ cup Newman’s Own Medium Salsa
  • ¼ cup Colby jack or cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup wheat germ or bread crumbs
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tsp cilantro
  • 1 tsp Newman’s Own Organic Ground Cumin
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 4 pita bread

Directions

1

Combine all ingredients in a food processor. Process until smooth and mixed thoroughly.

2

Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium. Form bean mixture into 2-inch balls or patties. Cook 3-5 minutes each side in the heated skillet, or until set.

3

For a healthier option, bake in a 350° F oven for 10-15 minutes on a baking sheet coated with tinfoil and cooking spray.

4

Serve with pita bread and hummus or in mini hamburger rolls for kids!
